I always make 3K + items from drops per run. I also always kill the monk boss. Go kill the griffons (and monitors on the way) then take the teleporter and head straight between the 2 rocks in front of you. kill all the monitors and walk it up and around the hilltop killing monitors non stop. Once they are dead map over to Elona's and enter mission killing all monitors and Dune Burrowers.
Map back to Augrury and that is a complete run. Sell/salvage/repeat by leaving out the West gate.
There are more profitable places but this is the best place to learn farming IMO.
I agree that if you need a build just search the build forum there are a million builds and about 1/2 that many guides.

well if you throw Elona into the same run, sure you're gonna get 3k+ per run...i'm talking about just the Augury griffons/minotaurs...

It's just not a full run to me without it. That is what I have called a desert run for as long as I have farmed. Sorry that's just what I do. Without Elonas I would say that I still make 3K after selling the items I find at Augury. It is more like 4K with Elonas .... a very rare 5k.

My favorite spot for farming is the Iron Mines of Moladune. Just do the standard infusion run, but kill everything along the way. The Giants and Trolls are just big defenseless pinatas filled with ~100g and occasional treasures. The Griffons and Shadows are a little tougher for some of my characters, but worth it in the end. Identify items in case they are 'precious' and sell all to the merch.
If I run into the Mursaat after the Seer's Cave and let them kill me, then just restart the mission, I don't seem to run into ArenaNet's anti-farming messages. (Hmm. Maybe I shouldn't be saying this...)

I play Ranger -and I trap farm the Kryta Ettins sometimes. It is mostly for Colored Armors (and thus runes) though.
Usually get atleast 3 purp armors and 1 gold armor per trip, sometimes not as much though.
Yesterday a Sup Abs. dropped on second trip (but I was letting a friend tag along and it assigned to him).
I leave from Beetletun into Nebo Terrace, then run over into NKP. If their are convenient Ettin spawns on the way I'll stop and kill them, but 90% of the time they have too jerky of a patrol or random Lynx and those Roots that randomly pop up can ruin your traps. Once in NPK I go thorugh Ascalon Settlement, and take the 2-3 groups of ettins there, and respawn back in Bettletun.
Only Two real threats, other thna these, 1 stock pile of traps kills any ettin group:
1) Lynx..the "animal" charmable in the region. They can run through and ruin all your trap stock. I usally try to get out of their path, or kill them before hand.
2) The Ettins can have jerky Patrol paths sometimes, and REFUSE to be pulled into the trap zone - this is rare but annoying as you watch all your traps going off while the ettins you have aggroed refuse to come towards you, or follow you.
3) The AoE "nerf" can have some effect here. 80% of the time, they hit your stockpile and their toast so walking isn't a problem, but theres that 20% of the time when they hit your pile, feel the first flame trap, and walk alittle out of the trap zone and spam healing sig for a few times to counteract the bleeding and burning.
This is REALLY annoying as now you have a ettin or two that survived your trap stockpile..Your low on energy..They can hit through your stance protections with their Irres. Blow.. and you have about 8 seconds to set some more traps to recripple or blind them before that dust trap wears off and they start owning you.
(This is a resent problem, as with the Nov. 10th AoE fix they can now sometimes get out of the last few flame/dust pulses just in time to survive to use healing sig, this is either because they were on the outskirts of the trap zone, or just lucky - But like I said - them being crippled and just the pure amount of traps their hitting usally drops them all before they even have a chance to turn around)

you can farm with an elementalist too.
i usually do it in augurys with the griffs and minos alone and i do fine unless a devourer pops up while im tanking the griffs/minos.
the build for it is somewhere on these forums by Ensign.
its fun stuff and quicker than the traditional mo/w or w/mo farming (at least i think so, one run takes between 15-25 min)

hydra farming ftw my new build can take 12 hydra at once (if i manage to get to take on 12 a once) and i have done the exact saem build with all the grawls by port sledge(well i killed all the hammer ones at once but could not do anything to the crones) and i done it one 6 mangho hydra(was dodgy)
still looking for more melee areas to use it , manage to own all the trolls in the caves without my healing going below 90% but drops were no good.
i worked it out the other day and have done some hydra farming and just reached my 100th hydra claw i will post this build once i reach 1000 :-) (wont be too long)
tips: it's quick easy and no healing sigit + no cyclone axe + no smite

yeah, ettin farming's a good time...profitable too...i've yet to get that elusive Sup Absorb to drop but i've got numerous major vigors along with Sup Favor and Smiting and 3 Superior Vigors...
Berserk Stance/Distracting Chop/Glad's Defense/Dismember = Dead ettin...

Xiaokai,
farm the sand drakes outside elona, it is tedious.. but with almost any build you can take on at least two no problem. This was the first place I ever farmed like waay wayy back in april. I made my first 50k here. It is very slow, but it's an easy place to practice builds.
Then if you're ready go on to augury and beyond. You can really farm with any class. The best I think being M/X W/X or N/Mo, (I haven't played ranger, I hear they can manage well, and ele was the first class I ever farmed with so that's nothing new) and there are some interesting Mesmer combinations I would LOVE TO TRY IF I HAD ROOM FOR A MESMER HINT HINT ANET. :>
Do some searches on "class" solo builds on the forums and you should find good info if you need more.

You are too too weak! It is not good farming with hammers, and you need to use stance!
